Dr. med. dent. Friedrich Markworth〔In German a Doctor of Medical Dentistry is abbreviated as Dr. med. dent. (''Doctor medicinae dentariae'').〕 (14 February 1915 – 13 January 1994) was a German U-boat commander in World War II and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross ((ドイツ語:Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes)). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Markworth was severely wounded when came under attack by aircraft from the US escort carrier on 3 August 1943.
